THE DIGITAL EDITION OF PAUL FERGUSON'S JUMPERS TO FOLLOW

Now in its 15th year, Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow is an essential tool to guide you through the autumn and winter, and into the spring. Not only will it whet the appetite for the upcoming National Hunt season, but it will keep you informed throughout the whole campaign.

Paul continues to add to the list of top-class jockeys who contribute and this year’s addition is a big one. For the first time, Jumpers To Follow readers will get the lowdown from Patrick Mullins, who was again crowned Champion Amateur in Ireland, having ridden a whole host of hugely exciting bumper horses. He is, of course, also an integral part of the team at his Dad’s (Willie Mullins) stable.

With sections covering French imports and former Point-to-Pointers, to trends and statistics on a dozen feature races spanning from November to February, there really is something for everyone inside Jumpers To Follow.

This year’s Foreword has been written by Grade 1-winning trainer Olly Murphy.

What’s inside this year’s edition...

  • PAUL'S 40 LEADING PROSPECTS for the 2021-2022 National Hunt season
  • ACROSS THE SEA – a further 20 horses to follow from Ireland
  • AROUND THE YARDS – Paul’s personal view (not trainer comments) on horses from more than 65 stables from around the UK
  • POINT-TO-POINT GRADUATES – the pick of the recruits from between the flags
  • A VIEW FROM THE SADDLE – horses to follow from leading jockeys, including NEW FOR THIS SEASON, PATRICK MULLINS
  • CHEVELEY PARK STUD – Richard Thompson again provides the lowdown on their powerful string
  • BIG-RACE TRENDS – trends and analysis in the format of the Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide
  • TOP-CLASS PERFORMERS – Paul’s view of the leading performers in each of the key divisions
  • NEWS FROM FRANCE – details of French recruits to British and Irish yards
  • MID-SEASON UPDATE - *exclusive content* -  an update, from Paul, on all 40 Leading Prospects as well as all horses which featured in the Across The Sea section, plus plenty more. Last year, this highlighted a further seven horses from the book who had impressed in the first half of the season, and those included subsequent Weatherbys Champion Bumper winner Sir Gerhard and Paul Nicholls' juvenile Monmiral, who won twice more before the season was out. The Winners In Waiting section included four horses, three of which were successful before the end of the season, and the Bumper Division section - which comprised of just four horses - included Kilcruit, winner of the Grade 2 at Leopardstown and the Grade 1 at Punchestown.

  • Flying Sara (Jack Barber) run once, won 4/1
  • A Large One Please (Oliver Greenall) *** 33/1 winner ***
  • Corrieben Reiver (Alistair Whillans) won 9/1
  • Defuture Is Bright (Christian Williams) won 5/2 (from 16-1)
“He could be interesting off his current mark of 101. I would certainly expect him to improve once sent chasing.”
  • Five Star Getaway (Christian Williams) won 3 times, inc 8/1 to 2/1F
“….currently rated 94……could be capable of significant improvement once upped in trip over fences.” Three wins later, he was rated 135

News From France (only featured 7 horses from France who ran in UK / Ireland):

  • MONMIRAL (won all 4 races including the Anniversary at Aintree)
  • QUILIXIOS (won 4 times, including the Triumph Hurdle)

Cheveley Park Stud, Richard Thompson:

  • QUILIXIOS
“…..at this stage, the hope is that he develops into a Triumph Hurdle candidate….” Won the Triumph Hurdle
  • SIR GERHARD
“…..another of our big hopes……he is likely to be campaigned in bumpers this season.” Won the Champion Bumper

Point-to-Point Graduates:

  • SIR GERHARD (winner of the Weatherbys Champion Bumper)
“Elliott likes to target the bumper at Down Royal’s big meeting, so that could be an option (won that race on his debut under Rules)……he could conceivably be the horse that attempts to provide the owners with their third straight win in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper (available at 33/1 pre-season).”
  • STAR GATE (Evan Williams) won twice, 5/1 on debut and in the Gr2 Winter Novices’ Hurdle (5/4F)

Top-Class Performers:

  • ALLAHO
“Although it is difficult to say that he ‘doesn’t stay’ as he has finished placed in an Albert Bartlett and the RSA, given his positive way of racing, allowing him to bowl along over 2m4f – 2m5f might be the best way forward.” Paul added “The Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles would be another good option for him in the New Year.”
  • Won that race (10/11F) before making all to produce a devastating performance in the Ryanair Chase (3/1F) under those tactics discussed

EXPECTED PUBLICATION DATE IS 10TH SEPTEMBER 2021
